Our Covenant
Thanking God for leading us by the Holy Spirit to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and having obeyed the command of our Lord to be baptized (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4), we do joyfully enter into this covenant with one another as members of the body of Christ. We earnestly seek the leadership of the Holy Spirit in our daily living to exemplify the following teachings of the written Word of God to: 1) Immediately confess any sin that we are made aware of remembering that, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to purify us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9). 2) “Pray continually” (I Thessalonians 5:17), knowing that there can be no victory without obeying the command of Jesus to keep on asking, seeking, and knocking” (Matthew 7:7). 3) Study regularly scripture which is given, “for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man/woman of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16). 4) “Always be ready to give a reason for what we believe” (I Peter 3:15). 5) Be faithful steward, (I Corinthians 4:2), to this body of Christ in worship attendance, (Hebrews 10:25), use of our God given talents, (I Peter 4:10), and financial support, (I Corinthians 16:1-2). 6) Strongly support the Lord’s missionary mandate to his church to, “go into all the world and make disciples of every nation;’ (Matthew 28:19). 7) Refrain from anything that could master us, (I Corinthians 6;12). 8) Recognize that others watch the way we live, and not wanting to, “become a stumbling block to the weak,” (I Corinthians 8:9), we will, “set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, and in purity” (I Timothy 4:12). 9) Place the concerns of others before our own and, “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). 10) Heed the admonition to focus our thoughts on, “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever, is admirable or excellent or praiseworthy” (Philippians 4:8). 11) “Speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). 12) Honor the presence of Christ in our lives, “so that whether we eat or drink or whatever we do, we will do it all for the glory of God” (I Corinthians 10:31).
